Ink wash: yarrow stalks just divided, lying still on a low table

Why a hexagram cannot be recast

You can keep asking until it gives you the answer you wanted.

And an answer reached that way is only the one you already wanted - in which case you did not need to ask.

That is why, in this app, once the hexagram is formed, that is the hexagram. No recasting, no drawing again, no rephrasing and starting over. It is not a missing feature. It is the condition that makes the whole thing work.

People who are stuck are rarely short of ideas. They have turned every side of it over many times and can argue for each path - and because they can argue for each one, they cannot take any of them. One more analysis does not help. What helps is an input they could not have arranged themselves.

A hexagram you can recast cannot give you that. It just hands the choice back to you, and having too much choice is what you were stuck on.

So this app has you cast eighteen changes by hand. Slow, and only once.

One more thing

Because it cannot be recast, what the reading says becomes a timestamped claim you can check later. Three months on you can look back and say it was right, or say it was wrong. The app adds up the outcomes you report and shows you the number - including when the number is bad.
